Fieldwork


drawing from life is central to my practice. This is both a creative endeavour in itself and a way of generating resource material to refer to once back in the studio. Studying birds in their natural habitat is a crucial process which helps me understand the subtleties of mannerism and behaviour of different species and the ways in which they react with their environment. Although I also use other reference material, it is this work done in the field that is the most valuable and which drives the ideas for new projects.
